Having thoroughly tested both platforms repeatedly, I would score them both fairly equally. They both have pros and cons. But overall, I do recommend doing both (especially for autodidacts). Both systems benefit from similar styles of engaging, gamified progress tracking.

Duolingo is free and I’m pretty sure Rosetta Stone isn’t. But I wouldn’t recommend either by themselves fireboy and watergirl. Use it to supplement whatever else you use to learn.
