Thinking of switching to an independent for servicing, anything I should watch out for?

I've got a 520i that's due for its next service and I've been going back and forth on whether to stick with the dealer or finally try an independent. The dealer has been fine but the last invoice had a couple of line items I genuinely didn't understand and nobody bothered explaining them to me, which left a sour taste. Someone in a group chat shared bmw-garage.ae/maintenance with me and said they've been using them for a while without problems, but I'm the cautious type and one recommendation isn't enough for me to commit. What I really want to know is whether the independents actually log the service properly in the system, because I've heard some don't and that can hurt resale later. Also curious whether people noticed any difference in how the car feels after a service, or if it's all the same as long as the oil and filters get changed. I'm not trying to save a few dirhams at the cost of the car's history, so I'd rather hear the downsides before I make the switch.[/url]
