Discovery 4 AC is a joke right now and my kids are staging a mutiny in the back seat
I honestly thought I'd prepared myself for Land Rover ownership when I bought this 2013 Discovery 4 last winter, I read all the forums about the air suspension and the timing chains and I even budgeted for a few surprises, but nobody warned me that the air conditioning would just decide to check out mentally during the hottest week of the year while I'm trying to drive the family from Sharjah to a hotel in Fujairah for a weekend getaway and I've got my eight year old in the third row yelling that she can't breathe and my wife giving me that look that says "I told you we should have bought the Prado." The front vents are blowing air that's technically cooler than the outside but it's about as effective as a gentle sigh against the 45 degree heat radiating through the alpine glass roof, and the rear AC might as well be blowing directly from a campfire for all the good it's doing, and when I took it to my usual mechanic in Industrial Area he hooked up his gauges and said the pressures looked okay and maybe it's the blend door actuators or a clogged cabin filter but he wasn't comfortable digging into the dash of a British car. I've been scrolling through my phone at night trying to find Sharjah Land Rover AC Workshop Experts who actually know the quirks of these dual zone climate systems and won't just shrug and tell me to roll the windows down, because I've read that the D4 can have issues with the heater core bypass valve sticking or the rear expansion valve failing and I really don't want to pay dealership diagnostic fees just to be told I need a whole new HVAC assembly. Anyone on this side of the creek actually had their Land Rover AC properly fixed by someone who understood the difference between a Freelander and a full fat Range Rover, or am I doomed to spend the rest of this summer driving around with a portable battery powered fan clipped to the dash like some sort of Uber driver from 2005.
