No. Under the SIM Registration Act, a SIM used by someone below 18 has to be registered under the name of a parent or legal guardian, who gives consent and completes TM SIM registration with their own valid ID. A child cannot register the number in their own name, and a school ID does not change that. The registered owner on record is the adult.

For the adult, the steps mirror any other TM SIM registration: enter the TM number, receive the OTP on that SIM, upload your own unexpired ID, take your own live selfie, and type in your own details. The portal then ties the number to you. Globe's help page addresses children who have no government ID in a single sentence: the parent or legal guardian registers the SIM under their own name.

Two misconceptions cause most of the trouble with minor TM SIM registration. The first is that a teenager with a school ID can handle it alone. They cannot, and a rejected attempt only wastes an OTP and some patience. The second is that the adult is a formality. Registration puts the adult's name and ID details on the SIM Register for that number, and the law penalizes false information and the sale or transfer of registered SIMs without proper registration, so a parent should know who holds the SIM and avoid passing it along casually.

Another common question is who counts as a guardian. Globe's wording is parent or legal guardian, so a relative who looks after the child should be prepared to explain that status if Globe asks. Cases vary, and this is one where a quick question to a Globe Store before starting TM SIM registration beats a wasted attempt.

Older teens raise a different question once their TM SIM registration sits under a parent's name: what happens at 18? Globe's help page says ownership transfers are allowed for postpaid lines and that guidelines for prepaid users were still to come as of this writing, so there is no clean, published procedure to quote for a TM prepaid SIM. The safest move is to ask Globe how to move the registration into the young adult's own name rather than assuming it updates itself.

Practical details make TM SIM registration smoother. Do the registration on the phone that holds the SIM, since the OTP is texted to that number, and have your ID flat in good light before you start. Use your name exactly as printed on the card. Tell your child the number is registered to you so they understand why it should not be lent out, and keep your reference number, because Globe asks users to hold on to it for future concerns. If the child's SIM is lost, the registered adult should contact Globe right away, and Globe states a lost prepaid SIM is permanently deactivated and replaced with a new SIM carrying the same number.

Parents who want a visual run-through before starting can read the independent explainer on TM SIM registration, which also covers guardian registration; it is an informational site, though, and the form itself must be completed on Globe's official portal or the GlobeOne app. Cases vary, so if the portal asks for something unexpected, a consultation at a Globe Store can walk the family through it.
