Grand Cherokee transmission is shifting oddly, is this a known issue?

My Grand Cherokee has started shifting oddly, sometimes holding gears longer than it should and occasionally clunking into gear when I come to a stop. It's not consistent, which makes it hard to demonstrate to anyone, but it's happening often enough now that I'm noticing it every drive. I've read that these transmissions can be fussy about fluid condition, but I don't want to just throw a service at it if there's something else going on. I came across jeepservicemussafah.ae while looking for someone who knows these gearboxes, but I'd rather hear from owners than trust a website. Has anyone had similar shifting behaviour on a Grand Cherokee and what fixed it? Also, is a transmission fluid change worth trying first, or could that make things worse if it's already on its way out?
