| Hey everyone. Our heat pump in our Bellevue townhouse stopped heating last night. The outdoor unit is running, but the air coming out of the vents is lukewarm at best, and it's getting chilly with temperatures dropping into the thirties. I've checked the thermostat and replaced the filter, no change. I'm worried it's something expensive like the compressor. Who do you call for heat pump repair around here that can actually come out soon and not charge a fortune just to look at it? |

| Lukewarm air with the outdoor unit running is often a refrigerant leak, a stuck reversing valve or a defrost problem, not always the compressor, so don't panic yet. When ours did the same thing in December, we called Product Air for heat pump repair in Bellevue, and they had a tech out the next morning. He found a faulty reversing valve solenoid, which was a fairly cheap fix compared to what I'd been imagining. The diagnostic fee was reasonable and they told us the repair cost before doing anything. In the meantime, a couple of space heaters in the bedrooms got us through the night. If your outdoor unit is covered in ice, mention that when you call, it helps them figure out what's wrong faster. |
