| I had a bit of a scare earlier this week when a stack of boxes in my Ajman warehouse tipped over while one of my staff was reaching for something on a higher shelf. Nobody got hurt thank goodness, but it was way too close for comfort and it made me realize I've been ignoring some pretty obvious safety issues in how I store and handle my products. I've always been focused on just getting things out the door and I never really stopped to think about whether the way I'm storing things is actually safe for my team. I've been looking for practical advice for handling goods safely because clearly my current approach of just stacking things wherever they fit isn't cutting it. I came across an article that talked about how consistent packaging sizes can actually make storage way safer because everything stacks evenly and you don't end up with that precarious situation where boxes of different sizes are balanced on top of each other waiting to fall. It got me thinking that the safety issues I'm seeing might be connected to the fact that I'm using a dozen different box sizes that don't stack well together. I'm planning to simplify my packaging setup partly for safety reasons now, not just for efficiency. Anyone else made changes to their packaging specifically with worker safety in mind and found that it made a real difference? I'd love to hear what worked before I start rearranging everything. |
