Forza Horizon 6, set in Japan, introduces a new accessibility tool called High Contrast Mode. This feature helps players simplify the visual environment, making important objects and UI elements stand out more clearly, which is especially useful in the game’s busy urban streets and scenic mountain roads.
How to Enable High Contrast Mode
To turn on High Contrast Mode:
Press Pause to open the menu.
Go to Settings.
Select Accessibility.
Scroll down to High Contrast Mode and enable it.
Key Visual Customisations
Unlike previous Forza titles, High Contrast Mode in FH6 is granular, allowing you to tweak individual visual elements instead of applying a one-size-fits-all filter. Some of the main options include:
Desaturated Backgrounds – Lower the saturation of buildings, distant scenery, and other background elements to make the important items in the foreground easier to see.
Highlighted Objectives – Assign bright, distinct colours to critical objects like race signs, barriers, and track highlights. For example, trees can glow green while the road appears in bold blue.
Simplified Text – UI text and HUD elements become easier to read against the vibrant colors of Japan’s landscapes.
Proximity Radar – While not strictly part of the contrast filter, the new Car Proximity Radar gives directional, coloured indicators for nearby vehicles, helping you navigate when visual clutter is reduced.
Pro Tips for Visual Clarity
Brightness & Contrast Sliders – Even if you don’t use the full High Contrast Mode, manually adjusting brightness and contrast in the Video or Graphics settings can prevent “crushed blacks,” especially during neon-lit night races in Tokyo.
Performance Mode – On Xbox Series X|S, enabling Performance Mode (60 FPS) reduces motion blur. This works well with High Contrast Mode to keep objects sharp at high speed.
High Contrast Mode in FH6 isn’t just an accessibility feature—it’s a powerful tool for any racer who wants better visual clarity in chaotic environments. With these settings, you can focus on the race, spot hazards faster, and enjoy Japan’s stunning scenery without visual distractions. |
