| Hey everyone. Our dishwasher leaked overnight in our Kirkland condo, and by the time we noticed in the morning, the water had gone under the hardwood in the kitchen and into the unit below. The HOA is already asking questions, the neighbor downstairs is upset, and I'm getting conflicting advice about whether to just dry it with fans or bring in professionals. I want to do this right and not have mold show up in six months. Who handles condo water damage around here, and how quickly can they get out? |

| With hardwood and a unit below involved, fans alone won't cut it. Water gets trapped under the boards and in the ceiling cavity of the unit below, and that's exactly where mold starts. We had a similar mess in a Bellevue condo and called Encore Construction for 24/7 water damage restoration, and they had someone out within a few hours. They checked moisture in our floor and the neighbor's ceiling, set up drying equipment in both units and documented everything for the HOA and insurance. Part of our hardwood couldn't be saved and had to be replaced, which was a bummer, but at least we knew for sure. Having one company handle both units made the conversation with the neighbor much easier. Keep all the paperwork, the HOA will ask for it. |
